About the role#
This internship provides an introduction to the multifamily real estate industry. You will work with the Agency Analytics team to analyze investment opportunities and explore how capital drives community development. This is a full-time, paid position located in Birmingham, Alabama, for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Perform fundamental analysis of multifamily transactions by evaluating property income and expenses.
- Learn to use the Excel loan sizing model, including inputting financial statements and rent roll data.
- Gain insight into the roles of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in the multifamily sector.
- Study various property types, such as conventional, affordable, manufactured, seniors, and student housing.
- Support the analyst team by creating transaction summaries.
- Tour local properties of varying classes and vintages.
- Participate in deal clearance, Agency Analytics, and weekly production calls.
- Take part in the Future Housing Leaders summer program, Virtual Intern Networking Sessions, and the Internal Speaker Series.
- Complete Mortgage Bankers Association classes.
- Prepare an investment summary as a capstone project.

- Academic background in Business Administration, Finance, or Economics.
