About the role#
This summer internship provides hands-on experience in safety management within a food and beverage manufacturing environment. You will work at a crush, refine, packaging, or grain elevator facility to support site safety initiatives and continuous improvement efforts. The role follows a model of 70% hands-on experience, 20% informal learning, and 10% formal learning.
What you'll do#
- Create and update training materials, safe work instructions, and job hazard analyses.
- Perform PPE and confined space hazard assessments.
- Review lockout-tagout procedures and completed permits.
- Track and trend safety metrics.
- Conduct procedural gap analyses to identify high potential exposures.
- Perform audits and write reports with recommended corrective actions.
- Analyze data and communicate findings to supervisors and mentors.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an Occupational Health and Safety Diploma or Certificate, or a degree in Public Health or Industrial Engineering.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in standard PC applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel to other facilities for training and project support.
- Ability to manage multiple demands and shifting priorities.

- Location: Bellevue, Ohio.
- Term: Summer 2027 (approximately 12 weeks).
- Work modality: On-site.
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- Relocation may be required based on business needs.
