About the role#
The Run Research team at Brooks is seeking a graduate intern to join our Seattle headquarters. This six-month position focuses on biomechanical data collection and analysis to inform product design and development. You will work alongside our team to study human movement and material properties, ensuring our footwear meets the needs of runners. You will also complete a dedicated project under the supervision of your manager and present your findings to senior leadership.
What you'll do#
- Collect and process human subject data using Motion Analysis 3D motion capture.
- Write code in Python or Visual 3D to analyze mechanical and biomechanical data.
- Perform mechanical testing on material samples and full shoes using Instron equipment.
- Create scientific reports in PowerPoint and Word to summarize findings for product teams.
- Mine data from historical dashboards to recommend product improvements.
- Conduct human movement studies to support testing procedures and product optimization.
- Develop relationships with customers and the Brooks community.
What you'll need#
- A Master's degree in biomechanics, kinesiology, exercise science, or an equivalent analytical field.
- Hands-on experience in a biomechanics lab, specifically with 3D motion capture and human subject data collection.
- Experience with materials testing and stress/strain protocols.
- Proficiency in writing code, such as Python or MATLAB, and creating kinematic and kinetic models in Visual 3D.
- Quantitative skills for data mining, report building, and interpretation.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate clearly in both verbal and written formats.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and embrace Brooks values.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site internship based in Seattle, Washington.
- The term lasts for six months, beginning in Winter 2027.
- Interns must be able to commit to 40 hours per week at the headquarters.
- This is a paid position.
