About the role#
Broadway Veterinary Clinic offers an externship program for students currently enrolled in a DVM curriculum. This program provides practical experience in a small animal practice setting. You will work alongside our veterinary team to gain hands-on experience and prepare for your career after graduation. Rotations are flexible, typically lasting two to three weeks, though they can range from two to eight weeks to align with your college requirements. You will be assigned a mentor doctor who will provide instruction, feedback, and a final written evaluation of your performance.
What you'll do#
Under the supervision of your mentor, you will participate in the daily operations of the clinic. Your responsibilities include:
- Gathering patient histories and performing physical examinations.
- Developing diagnostic and therapeutic plans.
- Scrubbing in to surgery and assisting in the management of medical cases.
- Providing wellness care to patients.
- Polishing technical skills and developing client communication abilities.
- Producing accurate medical records, including SOAPs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited DVM program.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Proof of professional liability insurance.
