About the role#
Investment Associate interns join the Alpha Engine department to contribute to the firm's fundamental and systematic investment process. You will work directly on generating macro and market insights, building investment systems, and overseeing portfolios. This internship provides exposure to how Bridgewater researches economic drivers, codifies insights into algorithms, and partners with institutional investors.
What you'll do#
- Research the drivers of economies and markets to build investment insights.
- Develop systematic indicators and codify investment logic into algorithms.
- Form macroeconomic and market views and stress-test ideas through time.
- Oversee portfolios and reconcile independent views with system outputs.
- Translate core logic into data and mathematical expressions.
- Drive the future of human and machine investor collaboration.
- Partner with institutional investors through custom research, tailored portfolio solutions, and writing for Bridgewater Daily Observations.
- Participate in an abridged version of the firm's Investment Associate training program.
What you'll need#
- A background in disciplines such as Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Political Science, or History.
- Relentless, obsessive curiosity and a deeply independent, iconoclastic mindset.
- Exceptional conceptual and analytical thinking skills.
- Ability to draw insights from diverse fields, including natural science.
