About the role#
Bose is looking for an Audio Machine Learning Intern to help build the next generation of AI-powered audio technologies. You will work with experts in machine learning, digital signal processing, software engineering, and psychoacoustics to research, prototype, and evaluate new audio algorithms. Your work may cover areas like speech enhancement, voice pickup, hearing augmentation, and spatial audio. You will have the chance to take ideas from research to proof of concept, potentially contributing to future products, patents, and research publications.
What you'll do#
- Develop, train, and evaluate machine learning and deep learning algorithms for audio applications.
- Research and implement approaches in audio machine learning and digital signal processing.
- Prototype and integrate algorithms into software or hardware platforms to demonstrate new audio experiences.
- Develop and curate datasets, tools, and resources to support research and evaluation.
- Collaborate with researchers and engineers across disciplines to solve audio problems.
- Present research findings and technical recommendations to the Bose community.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing or recently completed an M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Machine Learning, Music Technology, or a related field.
- Experience developing machine learning or deep learning models using frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras.
- Programming experience with Python and familiarity with C/C++ or MATLAB.
- Understanding of audio signal processing or digital signal processing fundamentals.
- Experience with at least one audio machine learning area, such as speech enhancement, source separation, microphone array processing, TinyML, generative audio, spatial audio, or audio perception.
- Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Preferred: Experience deploying models for real-time or resource-constrained applications using tools like TFLite or ONNX.
- Preferred: Experience with spatial audio, room acoustics, or acoustic simulation.
- Preferred: Software engineering experience from internships, research, coursework, or personal projects.
- Preferred: Research publications or demonstrated research experience in machine learning, audio, or signal processing.

- Locations: Framingham, Massachusetts; Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; or Atlanta, Georgia.
- Modality: This is an on-site position.
- Terms: Winter 2027, Summer 2027, or Fall 2027.
