Mechanical Engineering Intern – Adv. Engineering – PDS (Year-Round)

About the role#

This internship is based within the advanced engineering group of the PowerDrive Systems division. You will contribute to the investigation, development, and testing of next-generation technologies. This role offers exposure to electric drive modules and professional advanced engineering workflows.

What you'll do#

• Support new technology evaluation through hands-on testing, data analysis, and finite element analysis.
• Assist with benchmarking and design reviews for electric drive units.
• Collaborate with engineers to prepare test reports and analyze simulation studies.

What you'll need#

• Current full-time enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical field.
• Basic understanding of finite element analysis simulation using tools such as Amesim or Ansys.
• Familiarity with simulation software including MATLAB, Amesim, and Ansys.
• Interest in mechanical gearboxes, fluid analysis, and electrical drive units.

• Location: Auburn Hills, Michigan.
• Modality: On-site (minimum of three days per week).
• Term: Rolling, year-round internship.
