GSM Intern (Year-Round)

About the role#

The GSM Intern will perform activities associated with the procurement of supplies, materials, equipment, and services. This role supports the purchasing function by managing projects, analyzing data, and interacting with cross-functional teams and supplier representatives. This is a year-round, paid internship.

What you'll do#

• Understand and follow global supply management policies and procedures.
• Communicate verbally and in writing to obtain supplier pricing.
• Maintain the centralized supplier file system.
• Support the preliminary vetting of suppliers, including managing contact information, questionnaires, and NDAs.
• Submit Requests for Information (RFIs) and track supplier feedback.
• Perform cost breakdown analysis to support negotiations.
• Provide project management and analytical support for department projects.
• Benchmark information and summarize best practices.
• Assist department staff and perform other duties as assigned by management.

What you'll need#

• Current full-time enrollment in an accredited college, university, or vocational/trade school.
• Pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or Economics.
• Ability to report onsite at least three days per week at the Auburn Hills campus.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interface with all levels of management.
• Working knowledge of MS Office programs.
• Ability to work independently, manage complex assignments, and handle a high-volume environment.
