About the role#
BorgWarner is seeking a Component Engineering Intern for our Summer 2027 program. You will join our PowerDrive Systems team in Kokomo, Indiana, to assist with electric machine design, analysis, and testing. This is a paid, part-time, on-site internship.
What you'll do#
- Complete technical projects focused on electric machine insulation systems, rotor subsystems, laminations, and magnets.
- Document your findings to share project outcomes with the broader engineering team.
- Advance the development of subcomponents to improve cost, durability, performance, and design for manufacturing.
- Learn and apply current test methods to technical assessments.
- Work independently to solve problems and reach technical conclusions.
- Evaluate alternative options to determine the best method for project implementation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or graduation from an accredited college or university.
- Undergraduate status in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- A strong desire to work in the automotive industry.
- A solid foundation in engineering theories.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical, technical, and statistical skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- The ability to solve problems efficiently and work well within a team.
