About the role#
Bohler is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern for our Charlotte, North Carolina office for the Fall 2026 term. You will work on land development and site design projects while gaining insight into the daily operations of a civil engineering firm. This role involves supporting the design and permitting process for commercial, residential, industrial, and mixed-use developments.
What you'll do#
- Learn the stages of land development and site design from concept to construction.
- Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to create concept, grading, stormwater management, utility, and soil erosion plans.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to move projects forward.
- Research zoning ordinances and coordinate with local jurisdictions.
- Visit project sites to observe field conditions and the engineering process in practice.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss design and process improvements.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Civil, Environmental, Biosystems Engineering, or a related field.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- A self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred, though training is provided if you are not yet proficient.
- Curiosity and a desire to learn in a team-oriented environment.
