About the role#
This co-op position joins the Biomarker Discovery group within the Immunology and Respiratory Research therapeutic area. You will work alongside scientists to study the altered signaling and functional responses of patient-derived fibroblasts. The research focuses on disease pathogenesis, including mechano-sensing, cellular signaling, and fibroblast-immune cell interactions. You will also support translational pharmacology by connecting preclinical models to Phase I clinical trials through biomarker discovery.
What you'll do#
- Characterize SSc patient-derived fibroblasts to identify dysregulation in receptors, signaling pathways, and cellular function.
- Support target engagement and pharmacodynamic biomarker discovery efforts.
- Analyze experimental data and communicate results clearly.
- Maintain accurate records according to company policies and standard operating procedures.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of immunology and cellular biology.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a graduate or advanced degree student in good academic standing.
- Major related to immunology, fibrosis, cellular biology, or molecular biology.
- Completion of at least 9 credit hours at your current institution.
- Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without restriction.
- Willingness to complete a drug test and post-offer physical if required.
- Experience with cell lines or primary cell culture.
- Proficiency with in vitro assays such as flow cytometry, Western blot, qPCR, or ELISA.
- Ability to troubleshoot independently and work within a team.
