About the role#
The Antigen Production Unit Co-Op position offers practical experience in bacterial fermentation and the manufacturing of biological products. You will work within the Antigen Production Unit III department at the St. Joseph, Gene Field facility. This role provides exposure to bacterial and cell production, which serves as the initial stage of the vaccine manufacturing process for animals.
What you'll do#
- Follow schedules, procedures, and documentation within a GMP environment.
- Perform aseptic processes while fully gowned in a clean room.
- Assist with the maintenance and troubleshooting of production equipment.
- Complete the aseptic gowning process and the ASTA program.
- Execute calculations and conversions for weights, volumes, and percentages.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate, graduate, or advanced degree student at an accredited college or university.
- A major or minor in a related field.
- Completion of at least 12 credit hours for undergraduates or 9 credit hours for graduate students.
- A preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- Proficiency in reading, comprehending, and applying complex instructions.
- Ability to create spreadsheets to capture and filter data.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without restriction.
- Willingness to complete a drug test and post-offer physical if required.
