About the role#
The Finance Intern reports to a Team Manager within the Actuarial, Underwriting, and Financial Analytics team. You will gain insight into healthcare industry practices, build technical skills, and contribute to models and exhibits that improve company efficiency. This is a 10-week paid internship program designed to provide hands-on experience with real projects and exposure to leadership development.
What you'll do#
- Support analytics to optimize membership, healthcare costs, and revenue.
- Develop tools and exhibits to improve marketability.
- Learn or improve coding languages as needed.
- Analyze network configuration scenarios and provider contract negotiations.
- Build a deep understanding of healthcare provider reimbursement structures.
- Participate in the industry shift toward value-based care.
- Connect finance work to the company mission of creating an affordable, high-quality healthcare system.
- Complete a 10-week curriculum covering leadership development and industry exposure.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or Actuarial Science.
- Preferred 1-2 years of related professional experience, projects, or coursework.
- Strong analytical skills, including Microsoft Excel proficiency.
- Financial acumen and the ability to synthesize data into insights or reporting.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Location & details#
- Location: Long Beach, California.
- Term: Summer 2027 (June 14 or June 21 through August 20).
- Work Modality: Hybrid. Most teams work in-office two days per week. Employees living more than 50 miles away will coordinate schedules with their manager.
- Compensation: $25.00 per hour for undergraduates and $30.00 per hour for graduate students.
