About the role#
As an intern at BGBC, you will apply your academic knowledge to real-world accounting challenges. This role provides exposure to both tax and audit functions while working alongside industry experts. You will gain practical experience by supporting a diverse client base, ranging from family-run businesses to multi-national corporations.
What you'll do#
- Participate in intern orientation, technical training, and development programs to prepare for client contributions.
- Shadow team members and perform procedures on financial statement areas including cash, accounts receivable, fixed assets, other assets, and accounts payable.
- Gain experience with software used for bookkeeping, tracking fixed assets, and preparing tax returns and assurance work-papers.
- Review client financial statements and record necessary adjustments.
- Assist with payroll and 1099 annual filing requirements.
What you'll need#
- Completion of more than two years of coursework toward a bachelor’s degree in business or accounting.
- Ability to commit to extended hours and occasional Saturdays during the busy season, which runs from January through mid-April.
- Strong work ethic and a team-first mentality.
- Confident communication skills with the ability to build rapport at all professional levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
