About the role#
The Mechanical Engineering Co-op joins our product development team to implement solutions for customer challenges. You will work with other engineering disciplines to ensure cohesive system design. This role focuses on testing, introducing new products into production, and supporting systems at customer sites.
What you'll do#
- Design parts and assemblies based on system requirements.
- Use SolidWorks to design and release components.
- Create production and support documentation, such as bills of material, assembly drawings, and maintenance instructions.
- Perform test and verification of prototype systems.
- Use rapid prototyping tools like 3D printers, laser cutters, and mills to build solutions.
- Coordinate with suppliers, machinists, and contract manufacturers to ensure electromechanical systems are functional.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelors or masters degree program for Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
- Experience with SolidWorks, including design principles, sheet metal, and FEA.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping tools like laser cutters, 3D printers, mills, and lathes.
- Ability to spec motors, sensors, and off-the-shelf parts.
- A strong grasp of mechanical systems and mechanisms.
- Experience with design for manufacturing in sheet metal, weldments, and machined parts.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Curiosity and the ability to work independently.
Location & details#
- Location: Bedford, Massachusetts (On-site).
- Term: Winter 2027 (January to June).
- Compensation: $28 to $34 per hour.
- Employment: Full-time temporary.
