About the role#
Bee Sweet Citrus, Inc. is hiring a Farm Mechanic Intern to join our team in Fowler, California. This role offers hands-on experience maintaining and repairing farm equipment like tractors, harvesters, and spray rigs. You will work at least 20 hours per week for a three-month term, with the possibility of an extension based on a 90-day evaluation.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of farm machinery and vehicles.
- Record repair details and parts usage in our equipment management software.
- Support mechanics as they diagnose and fix equipment issues.
- Learn basic welding and fabrication techniques.
- Observe and assist with servicing diesel and propane engines.
- Operate company vehicles and farm equipment safely under supervision.
- Keep a clean and safe work environment while following all company safety rules and the Fleet Safety Program.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited university or college studying Ag Mechanics or a related degree.
- A clean driving record and the ability to follow fleet safety policies.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Understanding of quality standards and health and safety regulations.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends when necessary.
- Ability to think clearly and apply logic during high-stress situations.
- Physical ability to bend, stoop, climb, reach, and lift heavy objects.
- Comfort working in both indoor and outdoor conditions, with exposure to noise, grease, oils, and chemicals.
