About the role#
Bedrock's Product team decides what our autonomous machines should learn to do next. We ensure operators, site managers, and construction partners get real value from our systems. You will not be given a task list. Instead, you will own an open product problem for the duration of the summer. You will frame the problem, find the answers, build necessary prototypes, and present a clear recommendation to leadership.
What you'll do#
- Own an open product problem end to end, from framing to shipping a result.
- Turn fleet data from real jobsites into actionable decisions regarding machine performance and future builds.
- Prototype internal tools, data pipelines, and automated workflows using AI coding tools.
- Spend time at field sites with operators and site teams to turn observations into technical requirements.
- Work across autonomy, evaluation, operations, and commercial teams to pressure-test your ideas.
- Write up findings and present a clear, concise recommendation to leadership.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a BS or MS in computer science, engineering, math, economics, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience building things.
- A track record of agency, such as taking on an unassigned problem and carrying it to a real result.
- AI-native skills, including daily use of tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex, and the ability to verify AI output.
- Hands-on experience with Python or SQL and comfort reading code to follow technical discussions.
- Clear writing skills to distill messy problems into one-page recommendations.
- Willingness to spend time at field sites in PPE around heavy equipment.
- Bonus points for experience building tools people use, prior startup experience, or interest in robotics, ML, or physical-world industries.
Location & details#
- Location: San Francisco, California.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: On-site.
- This is a paid, full-time internship.
