About the role#
We are looking for a Canola Breeding Summer Associate to join our Agricultural Solutions team in Saskatoon. This is a full-time, paid position for the summer of 2027. You will work on-site for a duration of 4 to 6 months.
What you'll do#
- Support field trials for local and global breeding programs.
- Manage variety development and registration tasks from seeding to harvest.
- Handle seed set up, land preparation, seeding, pest control, pollination management, plot maintenance, and parental development.
- Monitor crop health daily through field and research plot inspections.
- Collect research data.
- Supervise casual employees as needed.
- Work both independently and within a group setting.
What you'll need#
- A degree or diploma in Agriculture or a related field, either currently in progress or completed within the last 2 years.
- Knowledge of breeding and agronomy.
- An interest in canola development.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt plans as situations change.
- A focus on delivering results for both individual and team goals.
- Previous experience in the agriculture industry or with farm machinery is considered an asset.
Location & details#
- Location: Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
- Pay: $25 to $32 per hour.
- Overtime pay is provided for evening or weekend work during peak periods.
