About the role#
We are hiring a Canola Breeding Summer Associate to join our Agricultural Solutions team for the 2027 summer season. This position involves hands-on work in field trials and variety development. You will work in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, for a duration of 4 to 6 months. This is a paid, full-time role with an hourly wage between $25 and $32.
What you'll do#
- Participate in local and global breeding programs to develop new hybrids.
- Manage variety development activities from seeding through harvest.
- Perform tasks including seed set up, land preparation, seeding, pest control, pollination management, and plot maintenance.
- Monitor field and research plots daily to diagnose crop health and collect data.
- Supervise casual employees as needed.
- Work effectively both independently and within a group setting.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Agriculture degree or diploma program, or graduation within the last 2 years.
- Strong interest in canola development.
- Foundational knowledge of breeding and agronomy.
- Ability to solve problems and adapt plans when situations change.
- Commitment to achieving results for both individual tasks and team goals.
- Previous farm or machinery experience is helpful but not required.
