About the role#
The Data Science Intern for Interconnection and Transmission supports our teams by managing critical data across multiple systems. You will collect, source, and transform information into usable databases to help us understand electric generation and transmission. This role involves mapping generation interconnection queues, tracking project statuses, and developing trackers for transmission object characteristics.
What you'll do#
- Extract, update, and validate electrical topology, system study cases, and generation interconnection queue data.
- Automate data ingestion from grid operator portals to improve workflow efficiency.
- Maintain and query backend databases that feed operational dashboards and transmission analytics.
- Build a systematic repository to track data issues, study case mismatches, and queue record discrepancies.
- Assist in automating web scraping, data extraction, mapping, and change-detection processes.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, or other programming languages for data analysis and automation.
- Ability to collect, clean, validate, and organize data from multiple sources.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret and organize complex datasets.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
