About the role#
Applied Materials is seeking a Co-Op for the Summer 2026 term to join the PPB team at the CTO office. This role focuses on material and chemical screening, characterization, and metrology within the semiconductor manufacturing industry. You will work on-site in Santa Clara, California, for a duration of 6 months.
What you'll do#
- Assist with inorganic, organic, and polymer material and chemical screening, characterization, and metrology.
- Lead small development projects involving materials characterization, screening, and quality control.
- Conduct material and chemical testing and analysis.
- Maintain detailed and accurate lab records.
- Support process engineers with material and chemical requirements.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or Physics.
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Ability to be physically present in Santa Clara, California, for the 6-month duration.
- Experience in materials characterization or analytical chemistry is preferred.
- Ability to learn new tasks quickly and safely handle various chemicals.
