About the role#
The Youth Counselor Internship involves supervising, mentoring, and guiding adolescent males in a residential treatment program. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to create a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment that promotes growth for the residents.
What you'll do#
- Provide daily supervision and mentoring to residents.
- Build supportive relationships through positive role modeling and clear communication.
- Ensure the safety and security of the facility and the residents.
- Supervise residents during school, recreation, community outings, and daily routines.
- Collaborate with clinical staff and case managers to set and track behavioral goals.
- Teach independent living skills and encourage positive decision-making.
- Maintain accurate Electronic Health Records and behavioral documentation.
- Participate in required training and follow program policies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in a human services-related field.
- Minimum age of 21.
- A valid driver's license.
- Basic computer skills.
- Successful completion of criminal background (including FBI) and child abuse clearances.
