About the role#
As a Quality Engineering Intern at Antares, you will join our team for the Summer 2027 term. You will work on the design, build, and test phases of fission microreactors. This role is designed for students to take ownership of a long-duration project, moving from small starter tasks to a final technical deliverable and presentation. You will be evaluated as a first-year junior engineer, working alongside experts to solve complex problems.
What you'll do#
- Develop inspection methods for mechanical and electrical systems.
- Support the qualification and implementation of inspection equipment and techniques.
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, test, supply chain, and materials teams to validate hardware.
- Characterize measurement and inspection uncertainty and document technical conclusions.
- Ensure rigor and traceability in the build of nuclear systems, structures, and components.
- Research new tools and technologies to close gaps in Quality Engineering capabilities.
- Develop automation and implement process improvements.
- Own a long-duration project through a final technical deliverable and presentation.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in at least a bachelor's degree program in Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Entering the junior or senior year of study.
- Prior internship experience or more than one year of significant project-team, laboratory, or research experience.
- GPA of 3.5 or above.
- Experience in a university club or organization.
- Strong interpersonal and technical communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.
- Ability to work cross-departmentally and in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Location & details#
- Location: Torrance, California, USA.
- Modality: This is a full-time, on-site role. Interns must work from our headquarters five days per week.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship. A relocation and housing stipend is included in the offer package.
