About the role#
The Lab Engineer intern supports geotechnical engineering projects by processing and testing soil and rock samples. You will work directly in our in-house laboratory to ensure testing standards are met. This role is a hands-on opportunity to gain experience in geotechnical testing and laboratory operations. We are looking for students graduating by Fall 2025 or Spring 2026 who have an interest in pursuing a career in this field.
What you'll do#
- Process and prepare soil and rock samples for testing.
- Conduct geotechnical tests following ASTM or AASHTO protocols.
- Document test procedures, observations, and results with high accuracy.
- Clean and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Manage day-to-day operations, including shipping field equipment, restocking supplies, and coordinating soil disposal.
- Adhere to all safety protocols to maintain a secure work environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for geology, civil engineering, environmental sciences, or materials sciences.
- Ability to stand and walk for 6 to 8 hours per shift.
- Ability to independently lift, move, push, and pull weights between 25 and 50 lbs.
- Capability to perform frequent kneeling and squatting.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to communicate effectively with the team.
- Prior experience in a laboratory setting, especially in geotechnical or material testing, is a plus.
Location & details#
- This position is located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
- This is an on-site role. Remote work is not available.
- The internship is a rolling, full-time commitment.
- Shifts are 8 hours, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work as needed.
