About the role#
Ames Construction is hiring interns for the Summer 2027 season. This is a full-time, on-site role providing hands-on experience on heavy civil and industrial projects. You will work alongside experienced professionals to support large-scale infrastructure construction.
What you'll do#
- Prioritize safety in all site activities.
- Support your construction team and build relationships with coworkers, owners, design partners, and subcontractors.
- Review and draft technical submittals, including schedules, shop drawings, and work plans.
- Monitor quality control, safety, and environmental programs.
- Assist with project layout and material procurement, including logistics.
- Identify critical work items and track long-lead items.
- Help with contract administration, such as budget and change procedures.
- Resolve field problems and conflicts with suppliers and the workforce.
- Maintain as-built drawings and manuals.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program at an accredited college or university.
- Pursuing a degree in Construction, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to spot discrepancies.
- A desire to grow your career and mentor coworkers.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

- This is a paid, full-time internship.
- Positions are available in Scottsdale, Kingman, Superior, Morenci, Bagdad, Payson, Sahurita, Tucson, Phoenix, Safford, and Flagstaff, Arizona.
