About the role#
The Kogod Career Development office at American University is hiring a Marketing Assistant to support our outreach and promotional efforts. You will help implement strategic marketing plans for career fairs, workshops, and networking events. This part-time position is open to currently enrolled American University students.
What you'll do#
- Create and distribute promotional materials including flyers, brochures, and digital slides for classroom display.
- Manage social media accounts, primarily Instagram and LinkedIn, by creating posts and tracking engagement metrics.
- Attend events to provide live updates, take photographs, and record video for future promotional use.
- Update the Kogod website and contribute content to the bi-weekly Career Digest newsletter.
- Prepare monthly and semester-end reports on social media performance.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an American University student.
- Experience with social media management tools like HootSuite or TweetDeck.
- Design skills using Canva, Photoshop, PowerPoint, or InDesign.
- Ability to use a DSLR camera for event photography.
- Strong writing, communication, and multitasking skills.
- A portfolio demonstrating past marketing experience.
- A resume and cover letter for your application.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site role located at the American University campus in Washington, DC.
- The position is part-time, requiring 5 hours per week.
- Compensation is $18.40 per hour.
