About the role#
The Center for Student Belonging (CSB) fosters an inclusive campus environment where students explore their identities and build leadership skills. As a Graduate Dialogue, Instructional Design and Leadership Development Assistant, you will contribute to the design and facilitation of programs that strengthen students' sense of belonging. You will report to the Associate Director and collaborate with staff and student leaders to execute high-impact initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Design and implement leadership development programs, workshops, and retreats.
- Co-create curriculum focused on inclusive leadership, identity development, and community building.
- Advise and mentor student leaders, providing guidance on program design and event management.
- Supervise student staff, including scheduling, training, and providing feedback.
- Collect and analyze participant feedback to evaluate program effectiveness.
- Manage logistical needs, including inventory and resource allocation.
- Develop promotional materials, social media content, and email campaigns to increase engagement.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor’s degree.
- Current enrollment in an American University School of Education graduate program.
- Experience in student programming or leadership development.
- Preferred: Experience designing or leading large-scale student programs.
- Preferred: Strong written and verbal communication skills, plus excellent organizational abilities.
- Preferred: Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and a collaborative team orientation.
Location & details#
- Location: Main Campus, Washington, DC.
- Commitment: Part-time, 20 hours per week.
- Pay: $18.95 per hour.
- Work Modality: Primarily on-site with occasional virtual support.
- Schedule: Requires evening and core day availability (Monday, Wednesday, and/or Thursday).
- Eligibility: This position is open only to currently enrolled American University students.
