About the role#
This is a temporary, full-time internship position for the Winter 2027 term, not to exceed 12 weeks. You will perform structural dynamic analysis on spacecraft and lunar vehicles for NASA human spaceflight programs, including Orion, Gateway, and the Human Landing System. This role is based on-site in Houston, Texas.
What you'll do#
- Perform finite element model checks and dynamic model reductions.
- Execute coupled loads analysis and vibroacoustic analysis on finite element models.
- Identify critical modes for components or integrated systems.
- Interpret and communicate technical results to peers and management.
- Write simulation scripts and code using Python, MATLAB, or C/C++.
- Process modal and structural data from analytical and test sources.
- Develop and review test plans, procedures, and documentation.
- Perform signal processing on analytical or test data.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited university as a Mechanical, Civil, or Aerospace Engineering student.
- Completion of at least 45 credit hours.
- Minimum 2.8 GPA.
- Coursework in Statics and Dynamics.
- Working knowledge of Python, MATLAB, or C/C++.
- Proficiency with MS Office and general desktop applications.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
