About the role#
We are looking for a Construction Materials Lab Technician to join our materials testing team. You will gain hands-on experience in both laboratory and field settings. This role involves testing soils, aggregates, asphalt, and concrete for various construction projects. We provide training for the right candidate, and certifications like ACI Concrete Strength or ATTI Soils and Asphalt are a plus.
What you'll do#
- Perform laboratory tests on soils, such as moisture content, Atterberg limits, and compaction testing.
- Test aggregates for gradation, specific gravity, absorption, and cleanliness.
- Assist with asphalt testing for binder content, gradation, compaction, and stability.
- Conduct concrete tests including slump, air content, unit weight, and compressive strength of cylinders.
- Record, compile, and summarize data accurately while following industry standards.
- Calibrate laboratory equipment and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
- Assist senior technicians and engineers with project support.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or recent graduation from a degree program in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Ability to lift and move materials or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- A valid driver's license.

- This position is based in Tempe, Arizona.
- This is an on-site, full-time, paid internship with a rolling start date.
