About the role#
As a Firmware Engineer Intern, you will join a core team focused on developing precision power conversion and control solutions. You will work alongside experienced engineers to support the full development cycle of power supply units. This role requires an on-site presence in our Fort Collins, Colorado facility during the Fall 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with team members to meet project schedules, cost targets, and customer requirements.
- Develop, test, and debug prototype power supply units.
- Analyze test data to verify performance against functional specifications.
- Interface with internal departments to maintain project alignment.
- Design analog and digital circuits, EMI filters, and power circuits.
- Create and implement control algorithms.
- Design and analyze magnetic components.
- Perform modeling and simulation of systems using proprietary or commercial tools.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an MS or Ph.D. program for Firmware Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- A GPA of 3.25 or higher.
- Practical experience working in a lab environment debugging circuits.
- Proficiency with tools such as oscilloscopes, power meters, multimeters, logic analyzers, and firmware interface tools.
- Familiarity with firmware programming for embedded systems.
- Experience with serial communication protocols including UART, SPI, and I2C.
- Proficiency with Windows platforms and MS Office Suite.
- Familiarity with CAD tools for schematics, analysis, and simulation.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines without direct supervision.
