About the role#
The Women's Rights Project at the ACLU is seeking a Summer 2027 Legal Intern. This role supports our work in systemic legal reform to ensure gender equity under the law. You will assist our team with litigation, policy advocacy, and communications campaigns.
What you'll do#
- Conduct legal and policy research.
- Draft legal memoranda.
- Research potential new litigation, including factual and legal claims.
- Draft materials for public education.
- Track and analyze legislative bills.
What you'll need#
- You must be a currently matriculated law student who has completed at least one year of law school, or be enrolled in an LLM or SJD program.
- Excellent research skills, including proficiency with legal databases and internet research.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail with the ability to organize and manage your time effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Initiative to see projects through to completion.
- A commitment to civil liberties, civil rights, social justice, and gender justice.
- You must be based in the U.S. for the entire duration of the internship.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, 10-week position (35 hours per week).
- The role is remote or hybrid, based out of our New York City office.
- The internship is paid at a rate of $24 per hour.
- Start dates are available on May 24 or June 7, 2027.
