About the role#
As a Software Engineering Co-op, you will work on big data projects and contribute to the Acceldata Open Data Platform. You will design, build, and scale components while learning from experienced professionals. This is a 4-month assignment based in Kitchener, Ontario.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the engineering team to write, test, and deploy software solutions using Java or Scala.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirement analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues to ensure high-quality software delivery.
- Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge with team members.
- Stay updated with advancements in open-source projects and contribute to the community as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related degree program at the University of Waterloo.
- Strong programming skills in Java, Scala, and Python.
- Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and core software development principles.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, including deploying, managing, and scaling applications.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
