Software Engineering Co-op

About the role#

As a Software Engineering Co-op, you will work on big data projects and contribute to the design, build, and scaling of components for the Acceldata Open Data Platform. You will collaborate with experienced engineers to solve real-world challenges in large-scale data infrastructure and contribute to open-source technologies. This is a 4-month assignment.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with the engineering team to write, test, and deploy software solutions using Java or Scala.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirement analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance.
• Identify and troubleshoot issues to ensure the delivery of high-quality software.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge with the team.
• Stay updated with advancements in open-source projects and contribute to the community as needed.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field at the University of Waterloo.
• Strong programming skills in Java, Scala, and Python.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software development principles.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, including deploying, managing, and scaling applications.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
