About the role#
As a Field Engineering Co-Op, you will work with distributed systems and help customers solve infrastructure and data observability challenges. This 4-month role provides exposure to enterprise-scale engineering and is designed for students interested in future careers as Sales Engineers, Solution Architects, or Platform Engineers. You will work alongside senior engineers to troubleshoot issues and build automation frameworks.
What you'll do#
- Write, test, and deploy software solutions using Java or Scala.
- Shadow field engineers during architecture reviews and performance diagnostics.
- Collaborate with Field Architects to troubleshoot issues and propose technical improvements.
- Design and deploy automation frameworks to support data ecosystems.
- Build context across Sales, Product, and Customer Success teams.
- Adapt to new tools and platforms through continuous learning.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related degree at the University of Waterloo.
- Strong programming skills in Java, Scala, and Python.
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software development principles.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, including deploying, managing, and scaling applications.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes concepts like Pods, Services, Deployments, and ConfigMaps.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Experience with distributed computing, big data technologies, and cloud platforms is a plus.

- Modality: This is an on-site role at 151 Charles Street West.
- Term: Summer 2026.
