About the role#
This internship is part of the Pharmaceutical Technology team within Product Development, Science, and Technology. You will support late-stage formulation development for a solid oral dosage form. The project focuses on investigating excipient compatibility and the interaction between common solid oral excipients and chemical stability. You will work alongside formulation scientists and analytical chemists to define strategies for high-quality drug product formulations.
What you'll do#
- Investigate the mechanism of excipient degradation in the presence of pH modifiers using analytical techniques like HPLC, titration, and colorimetrical methods.
- Collaborate on LC/MS analysis to identify and characterize leachable degradants that affect drug substance stability.
- Evaluate degradation kinetics under different temperature and relative humidity conditions.
- Assess potential mitigation strategies, including formulation and process variables.
- Summarize your experimental results and present findings and recommendations to the project team and department.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a PhD program in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
- Enrollment in university for at least one semester following the internship.
- Hands-on experience with analytical chemistry, such as HPLC, LC/MS, or UV/Vis spectroscopy.
- Familiarity with solid oral dosage form development and relevant coursework in pharmaceutics or physical chemistry.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to laboratory safety practices.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Location & details#
