About the role#
This is a full-time R&D internship for Summer 2027 based in Florence, South Carolina. You will work on-site or in a hybrid capacity to support the Service Medium Voltage Retrofit Markets. You will gain practical experience by working on design, development, and documentation projects while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, and analyze product designs for the Service Medium Voltage Retrofit Markets.
- Work in an Agile environment, managing backlog items and meeting acceptance criteria.
- Use Design for Six Sigma and Design for Reliability methodologies to ensure conformance to technical specifications and international standards.
- Create and maintain user stories and technical documentation in Azure DevOps.
- Use solid modeling software to generate models, assemblies, detailed drawings, and bills of materials.
- Prepare product documentation, instruction manuals, and learn regulatory standards including UL, CSA, and NEC.
- Present material for technical reviews covering tolerance loops, drawings, product cost, and risk management.
- Analyze the cost effectiveness of mechanical and electrical designs.
- Collaborate with purchasing and manufacturing teams to assist in supplier selection and component evaluation.
- Participate in team meetings and seek feedback from your manager and peers to improve your performance.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering in the United States.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now and in the future.
- Reliable transportation to and from the worksite.
- Critical thinking skills to analyze complex situations and develop solutions.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining quality standards.
- Strong communication skills to share information and provide project updates.
Location & details#
- Location: Florence, South Carolina.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Pay: $20 - $34 per hour, depending on qualifications, graduation year, and experience.
- Employment type: Full-time.
