Companies Hiring Interns This Month (Updated Monthly)

Discover the companies actually hiring interns this month, ranked by open roles. Track live posting data to apply for active openings rather than filled seats.

The standard advice is to make a list of twenty dream companies and apply to all of them. The problem is that everyone reading the same advice makes roughly the same list, and there are 2,698 companies with open internships right now, so the list is missing about 2,678 of them.

This post is the other list. It is rebuilt monthly from what companies are actually posting, not from brand recognition.

As of 17 August 2026 there are 9,324 open internships across 2,698 companies. We track 200,000+ company career sites on a 15-minute refresh, so a company appears here because it posted, not because it bought placement.

The employers posting most right now#

These are the companies with the most open intern roles this month, across every field. A company with five open seats is a materially better bet than a company with one, and almost nobody filters this way.

Two things jump out of that table.

The first is that the recognisable names are mostly not at the top. American Express is there. So is a 13-seat accounting intake at MNP, a Canadian firm most American students have never heard of, and an 8-seat security intake at Tevora, a consultancy that does not run a Super Bowl ad.

The second is that accounting is carrying the month. Four of the top seven are accounting firms, because autumn is busy-season prep and this is when they staff for it.

The companies quietly hiring more than you would guess#

Beyond the volume leaders, these are employers with open intern roles right now that students routinely fail to consider:

Industrials and energy. Chevron, Johnson Controls, Duke Energy, GE, GE Vernova, Schaeffler, Danfoss, TE Connectivity, Dematic, Flex, Gerdau North America, FortisBC, Alstom, The Mosaic Company.

Aerospace, defense and space. Pratt & Whitney, Boeing, Raytheon Technologies, Draper, Amentum, Hermeus, Vast, GITAI, The Exploration Company, Specter Aerospace, E-Space.

Financial services and insurance. Capital One, PNC, New York Life, SWBC, Louisiana Blue, HUB International, EQ Bank, Desjardins, McKesson.

Food, retail and consumer. Tyson Foods, Cargill, Ferrero, Uline, Aramark, Copart, Chuck E. Cheese, Broulim's Fresh Foods, Piping Rock Health Products.

Public sector, transit and education. Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Arlington County Government, Federal Reserve System, University of South Florida, University of Cincinnati, Western Governors University, Musqueam Indian Band.

Deep tech and startups. Roblox, QuEra Computing, Kairos Power, FieldAI, Faraday Future, Rendezvous Robotics, Beyond Reach Labs (YC W26), Silimate (YC S23), Xona, MetOx International, Tenstorrent.

That last group matters more than its size suggests. A seed-stage company with one intern seat gives you work that goes into production, and a named reference who will pick up the phone in two years.

Where the roles actually sit, by field#

If you want to know which door is widest before you pick one, this is the honest answer for this month.

Healthcare and nursing is roughly double the next category. If your degree is anywhere near that space, the arithmetic is on your side in a way it simply is not in software.

How to actually use a list like this#

A list of company names is worth very little on its own. Three moves turn it into interviews.

Filter by intake size first, not by brand. An employer posting five seats runs a program. An employer posting one seat is filling a gap and may already have someone in mind. Both are worth applying to, but the five-seat programs deserve your best-written application.

Go to the company's own posting. Roughly half of the strongest internships never reach the large aggregators, because companies post to their own career site first and often fill the seat before it syndicates anywhere. Our links go directly to the employer's posting, with no third-party application layer in between, which is both faster for you and the practice Google's own job-posting guidelines reward.

Apply within the first two weeks. Almost every posting on this list is reviewed on a rolling basis. The posted deadline is the last possible date, not the date decisions get made. For the full industry-by-industry calendar, our guide to when summer 2027 internships actually open breaks the year into three waves.

Checking that a posting is real#

A list this size attracts imitation, and internship scams are a genuine problem for students specifically, because the target is inexperienced and the offer of experience is the bait.

    Signals worth treating as disqualifying:

    • Any request for payment, for equipment, for "training materials", or for bank details before an offer letter.

    • An interview conducted entirely over text or a chat app, with no video and no named person.

    • An offer that arrives without an interview.

    • An email domain that is close to a real company's but not identical.

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission maintains a plain-language guide to job scams that is worth ten minutes before your first application season. Every posting we link goes to the employer's own domain, which removes most of this category by construction, but the habit is worth having anyway.

How to research a company in ten minutes#

Before you spend an hour on an application, spend ten minutes deciding whether the company deserves it. Four checks, in order of how much they tell you.

    Frequently asked questions

An engineering blog, a research page, a conference talk, a public changelog. A company that explains its own work is a company where you will learn what the work is. Silence is not disqualifying, but it means you are applying blind.

When the company you want is not hiring#

Most students treat a closed door as a final answer. Three things work better.

Set an alert instead of checking. The gap between two manual checks is usually longer than the window a good posting stays open. This is the single highest-return habit in a job search and it takes about a minute to set up.

Ask directly. A short, specific note to a hiring manager or a recruiter about whether an intern requisition is coming this cycle costs nothing and occasionally produces a posting written with you already in mind. Be specific about what you can do, not about how passionate you are.

Apply to the parent, the supplier or the competitor. If you want to work on electric drivetrains and the manufacturer is not hiring, the tier-one supplier probably is, and the work is often closer to the engineering than the brand-name role would have been.

What the monthly refresh usually reveals#

Watching this list rebuild month over month surfaces patterns that no single snapshot shows.

Accounting spikes in late summer and again before busy season. Engineering, particularly aerospace and defense, front-loads into August and September. Retail, logistics and consumer operations climb through autumn toward peak season. Healthcare stays flat and enormous all year, which is why it sits at the top of the field table regardless of when you read this.

The practical use of that: if your field is in a trough this month, that is information about timing, not about your prospects. Apply to what is open, set the alert, and come back when your sector's wave breaks.

    Fields with their own guides#

If you already know your field, start with the dedicated breakdown rather than a general list:

A note on the numbers in this list#

Per-employer counts here reflect roles currently listed, so treat them as a floor rather than a total. A company showing three seats may have more that have not been indexed yet, and a company showing one may be at the start of an intake rather than the end of it.

The direction of that error is useful: it means an employer appearing on this list is at minimum hiring at that level, and frequently more. It is the opposite of the usual problem with recruiting lists, which is companies advertising roles they have already filled.

Updated monthly, and why that matters#

This page is rebuilt every month from live posting data rather than added to. A list of companies that were hiring in March is not a resource, it is an archive, and following it wastes the one thing a student applying for internships cannot get back, which is the first two weeks of an open window.

One student spent two full recruitment cycles applying without an offer, then landed one within a month of switching to roles found this way. The applications were not better. The list was current.
