About the role#
As a Data Scientist, you will help Fleet Operations anticipate the resources needed to scale an autonomous vehicle service. You will build forecasting and scenario-planning capabilities for fleet availability, staffing, charging, and infrastructure. Your work will create a data-driven view of future operational needs to inform planning decisions.
What you'll do#
- Develop forecasting models for fleet availability, supply hours, staffing, operational workload, and infrastructure needs.
- Convert spreadsheet-based planning into reproducible, scalable, and well-documented analytical workflows.
- Evaluate model performance using backtesting, forecast-versus-actual reporting, and accuracy measures.
- Build scenario models to help leaders understand the implications of operational changes and market growth.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to align assumptions and establish a shared operating forecast.
- Combine statistical methods, machine learning, and AI-enabled tools to improve forecasts and interpret model outputs.
- Prototype AI-powered decision-support tools that explain forecast drivers.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a B.S. or M.S. program in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Economics, or Environmental Engineering.
- Ability to select the right analytical approach for the problem rather than defaulting to the most complex model.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

- Location: Foster City, California.
- Modality: On-site.
- Commitment: Rolling term, minimum three-month assignment, minimum 20 hours per week.
- Compensation: $30 per hour.
- Status: Full-time contract position (employment through a third-party vendor).
