About the role#
We are looking for a student worker to join our Software Platforms and Product team. You will focus on building and validating a driving risk assessment system, specifically by developing an experimental RAG system to test autonomous vehicle behavior. This is a contract position that requires a commitment of at least 20 hours per week for a 6 month project.
What you'll do#
- Design, build, and iterate on an end-to-end RAG pipeline for autonomy validation, taking it from prototype to demo.
- Define and run empirical experiments to validate results with data rather than assumptions.
- Approach open-ended problems with a researcher's mindset and a focus on rapid iteration.
- Communicate complex findings, trade-offs, and project uncertainty to team members and stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a B.S. or M.S. program in a quantitative field such as Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Biology, or Neuroscience.
- Strong programming skills in Python.
- Solid understanding of data manipulation using tools like SQL, Pyspark, or Scala.
- A foundation in machine learning and statistics.
- Ability to work independently under uncertainty.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience with RAG systems, LLMs, or vision-language models is a plus.
- Prior research experience taking ambiguous projects from start to finish.
- Interest in autonomous vehicles and our mission.

- Location: Foster City, California.
- Work Modality: Hybrid and on-site.
- Compensation: $30 per hour.
- Employment: This is a contract position through a third-party vendor.
