    About the role#

    This internship provides support to the Monticello Design Engineering Team and Capital Projects. You will assist with technical tasks and project work while gaining experience in utility operations. This is a paid, full-time position for the Summer 2027 term.

    What you'll do#

    • Design and implement industrial safety improvements, such as shaft guards and platforms.
    • Manage the site engineering document change backlog.
    • Update site calculations and lifecycle management documents.
    • Improve reporting tools and integrate AI tools into design engineering workflows.
    • Research equipment replacements and operating experience to support troubleshooting.
    • Assist with the early screening of outage modifications.
    • Support software implementation projects.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment as a Sophomore or higher in an ABET accredited college or university.
    • Pursuing a degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
    • Ability to pass a nuclear background screening for un-escorted access to nuclear facilities.
    • Preferred: Experience in computer or data science to support software and database tasks.
    • Preferred: Strong problem-solving skills and a focus on safety.

    • Locations: Minneapolis and Monticello, Minnesota.
    • Modality: Hybrid and on-site work required.
    • Schedule: Full-time during the summer, with potential for part-time hours during the school year.
    • Travel: Occasional travel to downtown facilities and the Prairie Island plant is required.
