Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineering Co-op - Fall 2026 / Winter 2027

About the role#

WSP is seeking a Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineering Co-op for the Fall 2026/Winter 2027 term. This full-time, on-site position is based in Philadelphia, PA, and is designed for students currently enrolled in the Drexel University Co-op Program. You will work alongside senior staff on projects across the infrastructure, commercial, higher education, science & technology, and healthcare sectors.

What you'll do#

• Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn the basic principles of Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineering.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to develop engineering drawings and specifications.
• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
• Learn Autodesk Revit to model plumbing and fire protection components.
• Read and interpret building plans and system diagrams.
• Travel to job sites to survey and review existing buildings and construction progress.
• Become familiar with engineering standards, codes, and project documentation.

What you'll need#

• Active enrollment in an accredited Mechanical, Architectural, or Civil Engineering undergraduate program at Drexel University with an anticipated graduation date of March 2027 or later.
• Minimum age of 18.
• Demonstrated interest in Plumbing or Fire Protection Engineering.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
• Ability to take direction from leadership and mentors.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Authorization to work in the United States.

• Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
• Term: Fall 2026 / Winter 2027 (Anticipated dates: September 22, 2026 – March 26, 2027).
• Modality: On-site.
• Compensation: $23.90 – $31.11 per hour.
