This Fall 2026 co-op placement offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in building sciences. Working alongside engineers, technologists, and senior specialists, you will contribute to projects that improve building performance and durability. This role balances office-based analysis with site-based investigations, providing exposure to real-world building envelope challenges.
What you'll do#
- Support building condition assessments, site investigations, and field reviews.
- Collect and organize photos, notes, and measurements to help diagnose building envelope issues.
- Assist with technical analysis regarding moisture, air leakage, and thermal performance.
- Prepare drafts, summaries, and technical documentation for project reporting.
- Collaborate with the team to learn industry software, processes, and professional consulting standards.
- Follow established health, safety, and quality protocols during all project activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an engineering or related technical program, such as Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Architecture, or Architectural/Construction Engineering Technology.
- Interest in building envelopes, construction materials, and long-term building performance.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately document site observations.
- Willingness to travel to project sites and perform fieldwork, which may include working at heights or in varying weather conditions.
- Confident written and verbal communication skills with an openness to feedback.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with AutoCAD or Revit is considered an asset.
