About the role#
The Electoral Justice Fellowship is a 4-month program designed to provide hands-on training in community organizing and electoral strategy. This is a field-based role focused on building local power and supporting pro-democracy candidates. Fellows receive training in the WFP power-building model and graduate into an alumni network of organizers.
What you'll do#
- Complete an electoral and advocacy training program and a core curriculum of organizing training.
- Conduct one-on-one relational conversations with community, advocacy, and political leaders.
- Research and map local power structures.
- Recruit and lead a local volunteer action team of 15 to 20 members.
- Plan and facilitate regular team meetings.
- Support democracy defense and priority electoral campaigns.
- Host community meetings for prospective candidates.
- Manage the ANCHOR and election protection work.
- Execute weekly phone banks and manage a local canvass event.
- Represent the organization at approved coalition tables.
- Train and transition volunteer team leadership to a member-led committee.
- Document outcomes and celebrate team successes.
What you'll need#
- Deep ties to and current residence in Mississippi or Tennessee.
- Commitment to economic and social justice for working families.
- Willingness to learn, take initiative, and work collaboratively.
- Reliable access to a smartphone and a computer with internet.
- Comfort speaking with new people and facilitating group discussions.
- Prior experience in a role requiring an understanding of local and state politics.
- Experience in volunteering, advocacy, labor, faith, student, or community groups is preferred.
- Personal or family experience with issues facing working-class communities is preferred.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills relevant to your community are preferred.

- This is a full-time, paid position with a hybrid work modality.
- Locations: Mississippi or Tennessee.
- The term is 4 months with rolling start dates.
