    About the role#

    Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. is hiring electrical engineering students for a Summer 2027 internship with our Heavy Movable Structures team. You will work on-site in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Our team focuses on the evaluation, testing, design, and rehabilitation of heavy movable structures like bridges, locks, and dams. You will apply your classroom knowledge to real-world infrastructure projects while working alongside experts in the field.

    What you'll do#

    • Conduct on-site inspections, condition surveys, and testing of movable bridges.
    • Prepare technical reports, presentation materials, specifications, and test procedures.
    • Create drawings and plans for electrical power and control systems.
    • Develop bridge inspection reports using narratives, calculations, tables, and test analysis.
    • Assist with data logging, filing, cleaning, and test area preparation.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a junior or senior year of a bachelor’s program or a graduate program in electrical engineering or a related field.
    • Excellent academic standing.
    • Strong verbal, graphical, and written communication skills.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing demands.
    • A high standard of excellence and attention to detail.
    • Demonstrated leadership, integrity, and work ethic.
    • Curiosity about how things work and a desire to solve problems.
    • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights, and operate access equipment like ladders or lifts.
    • Ability to work in outdoor temperature extremes and occupationally hazardous locations.
    • Medical fitness to use respiratory protection and other personal protective equipment.
    • A valid driver’s license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
    • Ability to travel to various office, field, and construction sites.
