About the role#
As a Data Scientist Intern, you will help turn data into insights that support business decisions. You will work alongside analytics and technology professionals to contribute to data preparation, exploratory analysis, reporting, and model development. This role provides an opportunity to build foundational data science skills in a real-world environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist in developing proof-of-concept data models and analytical solutions.
- Write, test, and maintain Python code for data analysis and modeling projects.
- Query and extract data using SQL to support reporting and business initiatives.
- Clean, structure, and prepare data from multiple sources for analysis.
- Support feature engineering and dataset development efforts.
- Utilize tools such as Git, notebooks, and cloud platforms to support development workflows.
- Document code, processes, and project outcomes to promote knowledge sharing.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate on sprint-based project work.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree program with at least 80 college credit hours completed.
- Foundational knowledge of Python programming and basic understanding of SQL.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Coursework in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Experience with Python libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, or scikit-learn.
- Exposure to data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau.
- Familiarity with machine learning concepts, predictive modeling, version control tools, and cloud-based analytics platforms.
- Experience working on team projects using Agile methodologies.
Location & details#
- This position is based at the San Antonio Home Office in Texas.
- The work schedule is on-site Monday through Thursday with remote flexibility on Fridays.
- Candidates must reside within commuting distance of the San Antonio Home Office.
- This is a paid, part-time internship.
