About the role#
Westlake offers a paid internship program for Mechanical Engineering students. This is a full-time, on-site role available on a rolling basis across multiple plant locations. You will work under the supervision of a mentor to gain hands-on experience in the chemical manufacturing industry.
What you'll do#
- Complete assigned projects under the guidance of your supervisor.
- Observe daily operations within your assigned department.
- Assist your mentor with day-to-day tasks.
- Participate in company safety and environmental programs.
- Keep a journal of your work and activities.
- Deliver a final presentation to the management team.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least your second year of college.
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering degree program.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Location & details#
This role is based on-site at one of our plant locations in Lake Charles, LA; Geismar, LA; Plaquemine, LA; Deer Park, TX; Longview, TX; Calvert City, KY; or New Martinsville, WV. You may be required to wear personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses or hearing protection, when working in operating units. The role may occasionally require travel.
