About the role#
As a Test Engineer Intern at WEG, you will support the testing of large electric motors, generators, and related equipment. You will work within the Quality Team to manage test floor activities, from planning and procedure development to technical troubleshooting and process improvement. This role requires on-site presence in Minneapolis.
What you'll do#
- Develop test plans, strategies, and procedures based on customer requirements and engineering specifications.
- Determine the necessary test methods, instrumentation, and equipment for verification.
- Analyze test results to confirm compliance with technical standards.
- Provide engineering-level troubleshooting for electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
- Lead continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, and testing efficiency.
- Create and maintain quality documentation, including work instructions and process specifications.
- Review and approve test reports to ensure data accuracy.
- Research new testing technologies and develop technical training materials for the team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Electrical or Mechanical Engineering program.
- A strong technical foundation in electrical and mechanical systems.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Knowledge of electrical testing, controls, data acquisition, and test systems.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as NEMA, IEEE, API, and ISO.
- Strong analytical skills to investigate technical problems and implement solutions.
- Clear communication and technical writing skills for reports and training materials.
- Willingness to learn new software, controls, and mechanical technologies.

- Physical Requirements: Ability to move freely throughout manufacturing facilities, including climbing stairs, and the ability to lift up to 45 pounds.
