About the role#
As a Construction Project Management Intern, you will help improve how construction projects within the real estate portfolio are planned, coordinated, monitored, and communicated. You will work with construction management teams and contractor partners to improve schedule accuracy, field visibility, and performance tracking. This role focuses on creating a standardized, scalable, and trackable process for construction management.
What you'll do#
- Map current construction project and contractor coordination processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve schedule accuracy, field progress visibility, and accountability.
- Define practical key performance indicators for external contractors and internal teams.
- Design a standardized process that can scale across special projects and markets.
- Gather feedback from construction managers and contractor partners to inform your recommendations.
- Document roles, handoffs, required inputs, milestones, and reporting expectations.
- Present the proposed process, expected benefits, and implementation considerations to stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate, graduate, or MBA program in construction management, engineering, project management, business, or a related field.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience documenting workflows, managing schedules, or tracking performance metrics.
- Coursework, internship, or project experience in construction, project management, process improvement, or operations.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with varied stakeholders.
- Comfort communicating with field teams, contractors, and business leaders.
- Interest in construction, owner representation, project delivery, or operational process improvement.
