About the role#
The Research Analytics & Insights (RAIN) team uses data and research methods to help healthcare organizations understand performance and quality outcomes. As an intern, you will receive hands-on training in the Vizient Clinical Data Base (CDB) and contribute to a defined healthcare analytics project. You will work alongside the team to develop analytic questions, identify relevant data, conduct analyses, and translate findings into a final deliverable.
What you'll do#
- Complete training in the Vizient CDB online tool to support healthcare data analysis.
- Contribute to a research or analytics project addressing RAIN team priorities or client questions.
- Conduct literature reviews and background research to refine analytic questions and identify appropriate datasets.
- Perform data extraction, validation, descriptive analysis, and interpretation to identify trends.
- Collaborate with RAIN colleagues and cross-functional partners to review methods and findings.
- Develop clear documentation, visualizations, and a final presentation or written research deliverable.
- Support updates to internal SharePoint content and team knowledge resources.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a master’s or doctoral degree in health services research, public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, data science, health informatics, healthcare administration, or a related quantitative field. An undergraduate degree must be completed before the internship begins.
- Coursework or applied experience in quantitative research methods, statistics, healthcare analytics, or study design.
- Experience using at least one analytic tool or language, such as SQL, Python, R, SAS, Excel, Power BI, or Tableau.
- Demonstrated experience working with data, including cleaning, validating, analyzing, and interpreting results.
- Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage a defined project and interest in healthcare quality, outcomes, or utilization.
