About the role#
This internship program is designed to help veterinary students build the practical skills needed to become effective practitioners. You will work alongside a mentor veterinarian who supervises your technical development and helps create an exposure plan for your time in the clinic. This is a non-paid, on-site training opportunity that provides a certificate of completion at the end of your placement.
What you'll do#
- Gain hands-on experience in a clinical setting.
- Refine clinical skills and animal handling techniques learned in university.
- Interact with clients and collaborate with veterinary team members.
- Develop your professional network and gain insight into the requirements of the veterinary profession.
- Prepare for your future career through reflective practice.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a third, fourth, or fifth-year student in an accredited veterinary medicine program.
- Availability for a duration of one to three weeks.
- Students are responsible for their own housing and travel expenses, though free housing is available at 11 specific hospital locations.
Location & details#
- Locations: Opportunities are available across Canada, including Morinville (AB), various sites in British Columbia, Moncton (NB), Sudbury (ON), and throughout Nova Scotia.
- Schedule: Internships are offered on a rolling basis. It is recommended to book your placement at least 6 to 8 months in advance.
- Format: On-site, full-time equivalent training.
