Externship Opportunities

About the role#

VetnCare offers a two-week veterinary externship program designed to support students as they prepare for clinical practice. This program provides hands-on experience in a collaborative environment, allowing participants to work alongside experienced veterinarians to develop clinical, professional, and teamwork skills.

What you'll do#

During this program, you will gain exposure to the daily operations of a busy veterinary hospital. Responsibilities include:

• Support patient history taking and clinical examinations.
• Assist with diagnostic planning and case workups.
• Participate in treatment planning and case presentations.
• Engage in client communication and case discussions.
• Help with urgent care case management.
• Observe and assist with surgical workflow, perioperative care, and dentistry.

The first week focuses on shadowing and understanding practice workflows, while the second week involves taking a more active role in consultations and procedures under supervision.

What you'll need#

This opportunity is open to students pursuing degrees in Biology, Nursing, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Public Health, Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry, Kinesiology, or Agriculture. Candidates should possess:

• Hands-on clinical experience.
• Ability to shadow veterinarians effectively.
• Experience or interest in patient history taking.
• Competence in surgical workflow and perioperative care.
• Exposure to emergency medicine.
